If done right, content marketing is the gift that keeps on giving.
The more pieces of organic content you create, the greater your reach.
Let’s take a look at an example of investing in organic content marketing vs paid advertising.
Here’s a video I created in July 2017 – https://youtu.be/7HgGiCK33ow. It’s been viewed over 400,000 times at the time of shooting this video . Two and a half years after posting that video it’s still getting over 10,000 views per month!
Let’s compare that to running a paid ad. A paid ad of around $5,000 would generally earn you 50,000 views if you are lucky. Then, once the ad budget runs out, all the views would stop.
But, if you invested $5,000 in a really nice and well optimized video like I created, you would start with only a small number of views and it would take much longer to reach 50,000, but eventually it would pass that and ramp well beyond it and keep on going!
All in all, the ROI is much better with content marketing over paid advertising in the long-run.
So which method should you choose?
I say both! You should always start with investing in high quality organic content. Start there. Then optimize and promote/distribute organically the best you can. But if you can afford it, I suggest also investing in giving it a boost! Even a small boost is a great way to get your content out there and build momentum.
